Can you still remember?
The International race fans will remember the glory days of Dutch riders: Wil Hartog, Jack Middelburg and Boet van Dulmen. The Dutch heyday, with racing glory for Wilco Zeelenberg and Jeffry de Vries, (chief test riders Yamaha Europe). Fantastic times, but unfortunately now long behind us.
Why could that be? Who can say? Not enough circuits? Not enough new riders? Not enough money? Market too small for sponsors? Too little focus? Perhaps all these things are true to some extent. The fact is that we can react in one of two ways. We can sit back and say that it’s just the way things are these days, or we can all fight to see a new generation of young motorcycle racers take their place on the podium.
DRT is a motorcycle racing team which focuses on training young Dutch racing talent. Not out of commercial considerations, but because we think that Dutch motorcycle racing needs a structured path for youngsters. A training team from which talented racers can progress to higher levels, possibly all the way to the Grand Prix.
